Despite the similar name, 'sensor power supply' is not the 5 V sensor reference (P0641 ff). It is documented in GM hybrid drive motor control modules: a 15 V supply that excites the motor position sensor (resolver) and powers the gate drivers of the inverter transistors, kept separate from the 5 V reference and the 12 V supply. In GM's 2008 Two-Mode hybrid, A and B are the two motor control modules. P06B0 is the general or open-circuit code of supply A. Only Mitsubishi's 2022 Outlander bulletin lists this code (as a main code with low/high sub-codes), without thresholds or sensor assignment. Low and high are P06B1/P06B2; GM documents those with thresholds. Check fuses and feeds of the motor control module first.
Medium severity. Can I keep driving? If the car is running normally, drive in moderation to a repair shop. If it loses power or another warning appears, do not continue.
Symptoms
- Check engine or hybrid warning light
- Electric drive or hybrid mode limited or disabled
- Further motor position or inverter codes
Most likely causes
- Blown fuse or open feed to the module
- Internal supply circuit of the motor control module faulty
- Connector or wiring fault
- Short in a supplied component (resolver, gate driver)
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: hard
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P06B0 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 0: Generic code: same on every make
- 6: Control modules and outputs
- B0: Specific fault in that system
