P0D2B: Control Pilot Indicator Control Circuit/Open

P0D2B concerns the driver circuit of the control pilot indicator, a lamp or LED with which the vehicle signals the state of the pilot connection to the charging station. The code covers the lamp's own wiring, not the pilot signal itself. GM monitors it on the Chevrolet Volt and Cadillac ELR in two cases: a short to ground is detected while the LED is commanded on (12 bad readings out of 15), a short to battery or an open circuit while it is off and the cord is plugged in (40 out of 50), each sampled every 100 ms. The 2011 and 2012 Volt treat it as Type B with MIL after two trips; the 2016 ELR tables list One Trip Type A. Wiring damage, a failed LED or a bad connector are the likely causes. Charging itself usually continues. Faults of the pilot line are P0CF3 and P0CF4.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving? If the car is running normally, drive in moderation to a repair shop. If it loses power or another warning appears, do not continue.
