P0E10: Generator Inverter Power Supply A Circuit Low

P0E10 means supply A of the generator inverter is present but too low. Ford lists the code in the HEV OBD system summary for its power-split hybrids (OBDSM1901): in the paragraph on the gate signal lines of motor and generator, P0E10 appears with P0BCE and P0BCF among the generator-side open-circuit faults, while the motor side is covered by P0C0C. For Ford, P0E10 is therefore tied to the gate drive path of the generator inverter rather than to a separate supply part, and no voltage limit is published. CARB requires circuit monitoring for such hybrid components. A weak gate drive supply can leave the power switches only partly turned on so they overheat, which is why the inverter limits or stops the generator. Siblings: P0E0F and P0E11.

High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.

Symptoms

  • Hybrid system warning light and MIL on
  • Generator limited or switched off, reduced hybrid performance

Most likely causes

  • Gate drive supply or gate signal path in the inverter faulty (Ford)
  • Low 12 V supply to the inverter, e.g. weak battery or poor ground
  • Corroded or loose inverter connector

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • It can trigger limp mode.
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P0E10 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 0: Generic code: same on every make
  • E: Subsystem depends on the code range
  • 10: Specific fault in that system
