P0E52 is the plausibility test of current sensor A: the signal is electrically valid, yet the measured current does not fit what the converter is doing. Two makers name it. FCA lists it for the 2021 Ram 1500 with the 3.6 litre eTorque mild hybrid; bulletin 08-037-21 brings new HCP software and turns P0E52 from a two-trip into a one-trip code, so the MIL may light after a single faulty drive. Ford reports it from the inverter system controller of the 2024–2026 Lincoln Nautilus and the 2025–2026 Maverick hybrid, together with several motor and inverter codes; the car loses power and shows Stop Safely Now or Service Vehicle Soon, and the special service message tells dealers to replace that controller. Pure circuit faults are P0E51, P0E53 and P0E54.
High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.
Symptoms
- MIL on, often after only one drive
- Limited power with Stop Safely Now or Service Vehicle Soon message
- Reduced eTorque assist or start/stop function
Most likely causes
- Control software with unsuitable limits (FCA eTorque HCP update)
- Internal fault of the inverter system controller (Ford hybrid)
- Current sensor drifting or offset out of tolerance
- High resistance at sensor connector or ground
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P0E52 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 0: Generic code: same on every make
- E: Subsystem depends on the code range
- 52: Specific fault in that system
