P0EE9: Battery Charger Coupler Temperature Sensor B Circuit Low

P0EE9 reports that the voltage of coupler temperature sensor B lies under its valid window. What that means thermally depends on the element. An NTC thermistor loses resistance when heated, so a low signal reads as an extremely hot pin. The PT1000 platinum sensors that Sailtran places at the DC+ and DC- contacts of its CCS2 inlet behave the other way round, and in a pull-up circuit a low signal looks implausibly cold. A short to ground pulls the line down with either type, and water in the inlet can do the same. No manufacturer documents P0EE9 publicly. Bentley's TPI 2075291/1 for the 2024 Bentayga Hybrid shows for sensor A that Low is P0D9B, even though the charger unit 00C6 showed the texts of Low and High swapped. P0EEA is the high-signal sibling.

High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.

Symptoms

  • Charging not started or stopped
  • Reduced charging power

Most likely causes

  • Sensor B signal wire shorted to ground
  • Moisture or water in the charging inlet
  • Shorted sensor element B

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium

What each character of P0EE9 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 0: Generic code: same on every make
  • E: Subsystem depends on the code range
  • E9: Specific fault in that system
