P210B: Throttle Actuator B Control Motor Circuit Range/Performance

P210B is the position-control check for the second throttle on twin-throttle engines. The controller compares the commanded opening of throttle B with the measured one; GM's 23OBDG07 table flags a deviation beyond a rate-dependent limit for 0.5 s, one trip. Ford lists P210B with MIL and wrench lamp for its dual-throttle applications (2020-2023) and from 2024 shows it as P210A with byte 95, the type Ford describes as cross-wired on the A side. Mercedes-AMG M177 V8s store it as throttle actuator 2 signal above limit, together with P2101; the bulletin blames high resistance in the connector pins of both actuators. Bank 1 counterpart is P2101; an open circuit is P210A, motor current P211C.

High severity. Can I keep driving?Be careful: the car may suddenly lose power. If it goes into limp mode, get off the highway and calmly make your way to a repair shop.

Symptoms

  • Engine warning lamp and reduced power

  • Deposits or ice making throttle B sluggish
  • Worn gears or motor in throttle body B
  • Motor leads swapped after repair work

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium
  • It can trigger limp mode.
