P2124 covers brief dropouts or spikes on pedal track D that come and go too quickly to count as a steady low or high fault. Ford documents it: special service messages 46829 (2015-2017 F-150) and 46880 (2017 Super Duty built up to late August 2017) tie P2124, alongside other pedal codes and wrench, ABS, airbag and hill descent lamps, to a pedal harness routed behind the bracket between brake booster and brake pedal, where it gets pinched and damaged. GM publishes no separate intermittent code for track D and catches such glitches through the 19-of-39 counter of P2120, P2122 and P2123. Inspect the harness while moving the pedal slowly. Effects range from a passing warning lamp to sudden loss of pedal response.
High severity. Can I keep driving?Be careful: the car may suddenly lose power. If it goes into limp mode, get off the highway and calmly make your way to a repair shop.
Symptoms
- Warning lamps that come and go, sometimes several at once
- Brief loss of pedal response while driving
- Reduced power mode after repeated dropouts
Most likely causes
- Pedal harness pinched or chafed by a misrouted path
- Loose terminal or weak pin tension at the pedal connector
- Worn spot on track D inside the pedal sensor
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: medium
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P2124 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 2: Generic code: same on every make
- 1: Air and fuel
- 24: Specific fault in that system
