P2210: NOx Sensor Heater Sense Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

P2210 means the heater feedback signal of the upstream NOx sensor on bank 1 sits below its permitted range. Typical electrical causes are a short to ground in the sense line or a failed measuring stage in the sensor electronics. GM lists the code as NOx Sensor Heater Feedback Circuit Low for the 2024 Silverado/Sierra 3.0L diesel (LZ0). CARB requires the OBD system to detect heater circuit faults that conflict with the commanded state. P2211 is the opposite direction, P2208 the general sense-circuit fault, P2209 a plausible but poor heating result, and P2206 a low reading on the control side. The sensor then delivers no usable NOx value; the MIL comes on.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving? You can usually keep driving in the short term, but get it repaired soon: on many diesels, the warning eventually limits starting or engine power.

Bank 1 is the side of the engine with cylinder 1. Inline engines only have this bank.

Symptoms

  • Malfunction indicator lamp on
  • No NOx reading in live data

Most likely causes

  • Fault in the sensor element or its control unit
  • Sense line shorted to ground
  • Corrosion in the connector

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P2210 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 2: Generic code: same on every make
  • 2: Fuel injection
  • 10: Specific fault in that system
