P2362 is stored when cylinder 11 shows more combustion pressure than the ECM considers plausible. No manufacturer publishes it, because no twelve-cylinder engine with cylinder pressure monitoring is documented. On a diesel, excess pressure usually comes from the fuel side: an injector that leaks or hangs open adds fuel, injection timed too early raises the peak, and a sensor drifting upward fakes the effect. That this code family can also be triggered by software logic is shown by Audi's 2015 S3: a December 2018 bulletin, superseding one from 2015, cured the cylinder 1–4 versions with an ECM update. Sustained high peak pressure loads pistons and head gasket, so an ECM may shut the cylinder off. Harsh combustion noise and, after a shutdown, reduced power are the signs.
Medium severity. Can I keep driving? If the car is running normally, drive in moderation to a repair shop. If it loses power or another warning appears, do not continue.
Cylinder 11 is numbered according to the manufacturer: check your engine's manual before working on it.
Symptoms
- Warning lamp on
- Harsh combustion noise
- Loss of power if the cylinder is shut off
Most likely causes
- Injector of cylinder 11 leaking or hanging open
- Engine control software misjudging the pressure
- Injection timing too early for this cylinder
- Pressure sensor drifting high
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: medium
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P2362 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 2: Generic code: same on every make
- 3: Ignition and misfires
- 62: Specific fault in that system
