P2445 reports that the secondary air pump delivers no air although it is commanded on. Toyota and Lexus use it on several trucks: on 2UZ-FE 4.7L models (T-SB-0230-12, revised in 2013 to include P2445), on the 2010–2013 GX 460 (L-SB-0028-14) and on the 2012 Tacoma with the 1GR-FE (T-SB-0033-17). When the memory holds just P0418, P2445 or both, Lexus replaces the pump together with both switching valves, since debris from the pump may already have reached them. Typical root causes are moisture or debris that seizes the pump, a blown fuse, or a failed relay or driver. Unlike P2444, the pump stays silent at cold start. The engine runs normally, but cold-start emissions rise and the readiness check fails. P2447 is the bank 2 equivalent.
Low severity. Can I keep driving?Yes, you can keep driving, though it should be repaired: the car pollutes more at startup and may not pass an inspection.
Bank 1 is the side of the engine with cylinder 1. Inline engines only have this bank.
Symptoms
- Check engine lamp after a cold start
- No pump noise directly after a cold start
- Often stored together with P0418
Most likely causes
- Pump seized by moisture or debris from a damaged filter
- Blown pump fuse or failed pump relay
- Open pump supply or ground, corroded plug
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: medium
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P2445 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 2: Generic code: same on every make
- 4: Emissions
- 45: Specific fault in that system
