P2512: Event Data Recorder Request Circuit/Open

P2512 concerns the wired request line between the event data recorder and the engine module. The recorder, normally part of the airbag control unit, stores a short history of speed, throttle, brake and other pre-crash data when it senses a crash or near-crash, and needs powertrain values for that. Via the request circuit it can ask the engine module to deliver or freeze them. P2512 means the module sees this circuit as open or not in its expected state. Ford lists P2512 for the 2014 BOSS 302S engine module with a W rather than an M in its indicator column; no maker publishes wiring or thresholds. Low and high states are P2513 and P2514. The fault does not affect driving or emissions but may leave crash data incomplete.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving? If the car is running normally, drive in moderation to a repair shop. If it loses power or another warning appears, do not continue.
