P2667: Fuel Shutoff Valve B Control Circuit High

With P2667 the module measures excess voltage on the wire that drives shut-off valve B, usually because the wire touches a supply circuit. Safety matters here: on a low-side driven valve a short to voltage can keep the coil energised even when the module wants the valve closed, so the gaseous fuel may not be shut off reliably. No manufacturer explains P2667 publicly. GM's bi-fuel Impala relies on two normally closed cut-off valves that the ECM opens only while the engine runs on CNG, and falls back to gasoline whenever either fuel system reports a problem; Ford lists the open-circuit sibling P2665. P2665 and P2666 cover the open and grounded circuit, P0007 the high fault on valve A. Have it checked promptly and use the manual tank valve if gas can be smelled.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving?Avoid long trips and hard acceleration. If you smell fuel or the car stalls, do not continue.

Symptoms

  • Gas mode disabled, operation on gasoline only
  • Fuel mode lamp indicates an error
  • Possible gas smell if the valve does not close

Most likely causes

  • Control wire shorted to a voltage supply
  • Corrosion bridging pins in the valve connector
  • Faulty output stage in the control module

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium
  • It can trigger limp mode.
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P2667 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 2: Generic code: same on every make
  • 6: Control modules and outputs
  • 67: Specific fault in that system
