U0076: Control Module Communication Bus D Off

U0076 means a control module has gone 'bus off' on communication bus D: its CAN controller counted so many transmit errors that, as the CAN protocol requires, it stopped sending. SAE numbers these codes by bus letter (U0073 bus A, U0074 bus B, U0075 bus C and so on up to U007F); the assignment of letters to networks is the manufacturer's. Until the controller recovers, the module cannot exchange data, so its own functions and those that depend on its messages drop out.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving? It depends on which control module has dropped out. If it affects the engine, brakes, or steering, do not continue your trip: call for roadside assistance.
