P07EA: Transmission Range Control A Circuit Low

Despite its name, 'Transmission Range Control A' is not the range actuator motor – that has its own codes, P272A and P272B – but the sensor circuits of an electric shift-by-wire selector. The only documented user is Mitsubishi's 2022 service manual for a CVT with electric shift (very likely the 2022–23 Outlander): the lever carries eight position sensors whose on/off pattern encodes R, N, home, D and M. P07EA is the electrical low check: one sensor reads below 0.6 V for 2.4 s – a signal wire shorted to ground or a missing sensor supply. Mitsubishi defines no fail-safe reaction. If all bits drop out at once, P07EF follows and the transmission goes to neutral.
