A plausibility fault: the pawl position reported for the drive motor A disconnect clutch does not match what the control module commanded, or the clutch did not reach the expected position, even though the circuit itself is electrically intact. GM documents the code for the 2024 Corvette E-Ray, whose front electric drive unit uses a clutch pawl and a disconnect clutch actuator; bulletin 24-NA-165 says it is stored in the drive motor control module, lights the MIL and is usually caused by the disconnect clutch switch, which is replaced as an external part. Electrical faults of the same signal are P08EA to P08EC; actuator enable faults are P08E7 to P08E9. The driver mostly sees the warning lamp and loss of electric front drive.
High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.
Symptoms
- Malfunction indicator lamp on
- Electric front-axle drive unavailable or intermittent
- Hybrid modes restricted
Most likely causes
- Faulty drive motor disconnect clutch switch (GM E-Ray bulletin)
- Disconnect clutch actuator not moving the pawl fully
- Worn or binding pawl or clutch teeth inside the drive unit
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: hard
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P08ED means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 0: Generic code: same on every make
- 8: Transmission
- ED: Specific fault in that system
