P0D27 says the AC voltage reaching the on-board charger sits lower than the charger accepts while charging is permitted. Unlike most charger codes, the cause often lies outside the car. Mitsubishi's Outlander PHEV stops charging and tells technicians to check, in order, the customer's power supply, the charging cable, the high-voltage wiring between charge inlet and charger and finally the charger itself. Stellantis lists P0D27-00 as Battery Charger 1 Input Voltage Too Low in the integrated dual charging module of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, with MIL, no level 2 charging and in some cases a tripping house breaker; the remedy is new IDCM software along with several other modules. Later notes ask for a test charge after clearing before an IDCM is replaced. Too high an input voltage is P0D28.
High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.
Symptoms
- AC charging does not start or stops
- House circuit breaker trips when plugging in
- MIL
Most likely causes
- Weak or overloaded AC supply at the charging location
- Faulty charging cable or EVSE
- Charger module software (Stellantis IDCM reflash)
- Damaged wiring or loose contact between charge inlet and charger
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: medium
What each character of P0D27 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 0: Generic code: same on every make
- D: Subsystem depends on the code range
- 27: Specific fault in that system
