Drive motor A's inverter measures the DC link voltage it switches, and voltage sensor A is the channel that passes this value to the motor controller. P0D2D is the general circuit fault for that channel: the signal is missing or electrically unusable, without a more specific low or high verdict. Ford lists P0D2D among its MIL codes. On 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicles it could be stored in secondary on-board control module C after charging, when a remote start ended in a no-start; customer satisfaction program 21B02 cured this with new software for the PCM and associated modules. Without a trusted bus voltage the controller usually limits or blocks electric drive. Plausibility faults are P0D2E, low and high signals P0D2F/P0D30, short dropouts P0D31.
High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.
Symptoms
- Hybrid or EV system warning and MIL
- Vehicle does not become ready to drive or electric drive is reduced
- No start after charging and remote start (Mach-E)
Most likely causes
- Inverter or powertrain module software fault (Ford 21B02)
- Loose connector or damaged signal wiring of the voltage sensor
- Voltage sensing circuit inside the inverter failed
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P0D2D means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 0: Generic code: same on every make
- D: Subsystem depends on the code range
- 2D: Specific fault in that system
Frequently asked questions
