P2007 reports that the runner or tumble flaps of bank 2 have not opened although the ECM asked for it. Because closed flaps narrow the intake path, the fault shows up mainly as missing power near the top of the rev range. On the 2013 Audi 3.0 TFSI (A6, A7, S4, S5, Q5, Q7) a torn diaphragm in one vacuum actuator caused P2006 or P2007; once the vacuum lines pass a leak test, Audi swaps the actuators on both banks to avoid a repeat visit. Audi's 4.0 TFSI bulletin also lists P2007, there with water in the potentiometer. Subaru counts it among tumble valve faults on Forester Turbo and WRX (corroded shaft, now stainless) and on Impreza and Crosstrek, where grease escaping from the actuator makes the valve erratic. Ford checks it like the bank 1 code: four failed events after coolant reaches 40 °F. Compare with P2005, the stuck-open case.
Medium severity. Can I keep driving? You can drive in moderation. Get it repaired soon, because a loose flap can cause major damage on some engines.
Bank 2 is the side without cylinder 1, so it only exists on V or boxer engines.
Symptoms
- Malfunction indicator lamp on
- Slight loss of power at high rpm
Most likely causes
- Torn diaphragm in the bank 2 vacuum actuator
- Flap shaft seized by corrosion or deposits
- Grease leaking from an integrated tumble valve actuator (Subaru Impreza/Crosstrek)
- Vacuum supply or control valve not working
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: medium
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P2007 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 2: Generic code: same on every make
- 0: Subsystem depends on the code range
- 07: Specific fault in that system
