P2060: Reductant Injection Air Pump Control Circuit Low

P2060 means the control line of the injection air pump or air valve is held at too low a level: when the output tries to switch it on, the voltage collapses because the wire or the load is connected to ground. Deutz defines exactly this on its EMR L1 controller as P2060-00, a high-side short to ground on output SPN 5796, which drives the air pump or valve. The driver protects itself, so the valve stays closed and atomizing air never reaches the dosing nozzle. Look for wires rubbed through on the frame or the engine block, a water-filled connector or a coil with a short to its housing. An open circuit of the same output is P2059, a short to battery P2061. DEF dosing is blocked until the short is removed.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving?Deal with it soon. If the instrument cluster shows a countdown, the car may not restart once it reaches zero.

Symptoms

  • Emission warning lamp on
  • DEF dosing blocked
  • Possible blown fuse in the air valve supply

Most likely causes

  • Control wire chafed through to ground
  • Valve or pump coil shorted to its housing
  • Water in the connector bridging to ground

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium
  • It can trigger limp mode.
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P2060 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 2: Generic code: same on every make
  • 0: Subsystem depends on the code range
  • 60: Specific fault in that system
