P2263 means boost pressure measured in the intake manifold stays too far from the target set by the closed-loop boost control. CARB requires diesel OBD to detect underboost, overboost and slow response of the boost control. On the 2014 Cruze 2.0 diesel the allowed underboost deviation runs from 35 to 85 kPa with injection quantity and speed, and the code sets as Type A once the condition holds for 15 s; GM's 2018 diesels need 400 failures in 500 samples and name leaks after the compressor or in the manifolds, and exhaust obstructions, as targets. Ford's 2023 diesels count deviations above 35 kPa at 1500 rpm or more, typically over 100 s. The Opel/GM 2.0 CDTi in the Saab 9-5 (2010) waits for more than 200 s out of range and stores it as Type C. GM's Cruze bulletin found a charge-air cooler duct pulled off the throttle body, with P0299, P2002 and P2463 alongside. The engine usually limits torque.
Medium severity. Can I keep driving? You can reach a repair shop at a calm pace, bearing in mind that limp mode may kick in with little power. If there is also blue smoke, oil loss, or a metallic noise from the turbo, shut off the engine: continuing can damage it.
Symptoms
- Power loss or limp mode
- Hissing or whistling from the charge-air system
- Black smoke under load
Most likely causes
- Charge-air hose or cooler duct leaking or pulled off
- Variable-geometry vanes or actuator sticking
- Restricted exhaust, for example a heavily loaded particulate filter
- Boost pressure sensor reading wrong
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: medium
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P2263 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 2: Generic code: same on every make
- 2: Fuel injection
- 63: Specific fault in that system
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep driving with code P2263?
You can reach a repair shop at a calm pace, bearing in mind that limp mode may kick in with little power. If there is also blue smoke, oil loss, or a metallic noise from the turbo, shut off the engine: continuing can damage it.
What causes code P2263?
The most common causes are: charge-air hose or cooler duct leaking or pulled off; variable-geometry vanes or actuator sticking; restricted exhaust, for example a heavily loaded particulate filter.
