P22D3: Turbocharger Turbine Inlet Valve Stuck Closed

P22D3 is stored when the turbine inlet valve does not open on command. In a series two-stage layout all exhaust must then pass the small high-pressure stage even at high load, raising back-pressure and risking overboost or turbo overspeed, so the module caps power. In a parallel-sequential layout the second turbo never comes in. Stellantis documents the code on the 2026 Jeep Cherokee with the 1.6 litre turbo hybrid: bulletin 18-052-26 Rev. A (June 2026) states that P22D3-00 sets falsely on vehicles built from mid-December 2025 to late April 2026 and adds PCM software that disables it. On other vehicles, check for a valve seized by soot, a failed actuator or a lacking vacuum supply. P22D2 is the opposite, a valve stuck open.
