P22DF: Cylinder 2 Alternative Fuel Injector Control Circuit High

P22DF indicates that the control circuit of the cylinder 2 gas injector reads high, which TransEco Energy's AFCM table attributes to a short to power; MIL on for bi-fuel use. Ford's 2014 code list likewise flags P22DF for the MIL. A line stuck at supply voltage keeps the injector closed, so cylinder 2 burns no gas and misfires lean, while running on gasoline is unaffected. On GM's 2015 bi-fuel Impala the ECM drives the CNG injectors itself and, if it sees a fuel delivery problem in one system, changes over to the other, so the driver may only notice a switch back to gasoline. A coil with internal shorts can produce the same overcurrent. P22DE is the low side; P0265 is the high-side code of the gasoline injector.

High severity. Can I keep driving? If you smell gas, do not keep driving or start the engine: move away and call for assistance. With no smell, drive moderately to an authorized shop.

Cylinder 2 is numbered according to the manufacturer: check your engine's manual before working on it.
