P2355: Cylinder 10 Pressure Sensor Circuit High

P2355 means the cylinder 10 pressure signal is stuck above its upper limit. Taking the Saab 9-5 diesel with GM's 2.0 engine as the model, the Type B high codes for its four cylinders (P0398 on cylinder 1) wait until the signal has stayed above the threshold for over 2 s with the engine running. An interrupted signal or low reference circuit lets the input float upward, and the scan tool then displays a fixed 10,000 kPa instead of a value inside the normal 0 to 9,000 kPa. Saab's way to tell wiring from sensor: bridge signal and low reference at the harness plug with a fused jumper; the reading must then fall below 50 kPa, otherwise the fault lies in the harness or the ECM. No manufacturer documents P2355 for cylinder 10 itself; P2354 is the low counterpart.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving? If the car is running normally, drive in moderation to a repair shop. If it loses power or another warning appears, do not continue.

Cylinder 10 is numbered according to the manufacturer: check your engine's manual before working on it.

Symptoms

  • Check engine light after two trips
  • Peak pressure for cylinder 10 frozen at a very high value
  • No obvious driveability complaint

Most likely causes

  • Signal or low reference wire open, connector pulled off
  • Signal or reference shorted to a voltage source
  • Sensor electronics driving the output high

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P2355 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 2: Generic code: same on every make
  • 3: Ignition and misfires
  • 55: Specific fault in that system
