P2366: Cylinder 12 Pressure Sensor Circuit

P2366 is the general circuit code for the combustion pressure sensor of cylinder 12; it does not tell whether the signal sits too low or too high. Twelve is the highest number on a V12 or W12. Whether a maker counts bank by bank or along the crankshaft, number 1 is normally the front cylinder, which places 12 at the opposite end of the engine. No twelve-cylinder engine with pressure-sensing glow plugs is publicly documented, so no manufacturer describes P2366; CARB's demand for circuit continuity checks and the cylinder-1 code P0395 frame it. A 2014 Volkswagen bulletin for its 2.0 TDI advises a push-and-pull test of the plug connector before any part is replaced, since a poorly seated connector is often the real culprit. The engine usually runs as before.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving? If the car is running normally, drive in moderation to a repair shop. If it loses power or another warning appears, do not continue.

Cylinder 12 is numbered according to the manufacturer: check your engine's manual before working on it.

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Pressure reading for cylinder 12 missing or fixed in live data

Most likely causes

  • Glow plug connector not fully latched or loose
  • Damaged wire in the harness branch to the rearmost cylinder
  • Pressure-sensing glow plug faulty

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P2366 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 2: Generic code: same on every make
  • 3: Ignition and misfires
  • 66: Specific fault in that system
