P2763: Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit High

P2763 means the control circuit of the lockup pressure solenoid reads high. GM's 2018 T87A table treats it as a short to power, at 1.16 Ω or less to a voltage source while the driver is on, Type B. Its 2016 tables add variants: on the T76 six-speed the high-voltage flag also covers an open circuit and must persist 4.4 of 5 seconds over two trips; on the T54 CVT the module sets it when at least 750 mA is commanded but 200 mA or less flows for over 5 seconds. Subaru cites P2763 in bulletin 16-149-25 for the TR580 CVT in 2020–2023 Legacy, Outback, Crosstrek and Forester Wilderness: condensation can wet the valve-body connector, cured with a redesigned control valve plus connector cover. Ford's 2012 6R80 also files TCC driver faults here.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving?Drive as little as possible and gently. If the transmission slips or stays in one gear, go slowly to a repair shop or call for a tow truck.

Symptoms

  • No converter lockup, higher cruise rpm
  • Transmission warning and MIL
  • Other solenoid high codes at the same time (Subaru)

Most likely causes

  • Moisture in the valve-body connector (Subaru TR580)
  • Control wire shorted to battery voltage
  • Open circuit where the maker includes it in this code (GM T76/T54)
  • Faulty TCM output stage

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium
  • It can trigger limp mode.
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P2763 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 2: Generic code: same on every make
  • 7: Transmission
  • 63: Specific fault in that system
