P0810 reports a control error of an electronically or hydraulically operated clutch: commanded and actual position differ too much or for too long. It is documented on Stellantis plug-in hybrids – Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe with the 8P75PH transmission – where it concerns the K0 disconnect clutch between engine and electric motor. According to the 2024 and 2025 bulletins the clutch adaptation ran at standstill or in electric mode, drive was lost until the next key cycle and the MIL came on; the cause was too tight setting parameters, fixed with new transmission software, partly together with P2885. On automated or dual-clutch gearboxes the same idea applies when the clutch actuator misses its target position.
Medium severity. Can I keep driving?Drive gently to a repair shop. If it slips, you hear clunks, or it loses its gears, do not keep driving.
Symptoms
- Check engine lamp on
- Transmission warning message
- Loss of drive until the next key cycle
Most likely causes
- Control unit software with too tight parameters
- Clutch actuator or hydraulics (pressure, valve) faulty
- Clutch position sensor inaccurate
- Wrong or aged fluid, worn clutch
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: medium
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P0810 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 0: Generic code: same on every make
- 8: Transmission
- 10: Specific fault in that system
