P0E2B is the upper-limit fault of inverter temperature sensor H. Mitsubishi documents it for the 2023 Outlander PHEV, where sensor H is IGBT sensor 8 at the V-phase H2 position of the front motor unit: a signal reaching 3.75 V for 0.08 s while the unit receives 8 V or more sets P0E2B-00, and the function list shows MIL and hybrid warning light for it. In an NTC circuit with pull-up, as GM uses in its inverters, the controller would read this as an implausibly cold phase, so the cause is almost always electrical: an interrupted signal path, a missing sensor ground or an element that has gone open. Its low-side partner is P0E2A, the U-phase counterpart P0E26. The repair at Mitsubishi is a new power drive unit.
High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.
Symptoms
- MIL and hybrid warning light on
- Drive power may be limited
Most likely causes
- Interrupted signal path of sensor H
- Missing sensor ground
- Thermistor element gone open
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P0E2B means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 0: Generic code: same on every make
- E: Subsystem depends on the code range
- 2B: Specific fault in that system
