P0E2E: Battery Charger A Fuse

P0E2E concerns the high-voltage fuse that protects the branch from the battery to on-board charger A. Battery managements usually judge such a fuse by comparing the voltage ahead of and behind it, as Volvo describes for its HV fuses. Audi documents P0E2E00 for the 2022 Q5 plug-in hybrid: the hybrid battery regulation module J840 stores it intermittently with symptom code 28733, often next to P0A95, and the driver sees an electrical system fault message or the car does not start. According to Audi, a diagnostic irregularity during very dynamic cornering creates the entry without a real defect; replacing the switching unit, as guided fault finding suggests, does not help, a software update does. A truly open charger fuse stops AC charging. P0A95, P0E2F and P0E30 cover other HV fuses.

High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.

Symptoms

  • Electrical system fault message
  • No AC charging or vehicle does not start

Most likely causes

  • False entry from the battery management software (Audi Q5 PHEV)
  • Fuse opened after a short in the on-board charger or its cable
  • Faulty voltage measurement at the fuse

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

What each character of P0E2E means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 0: Generic code: same on every make
  • E: Subsystem depends on the code range
  • 2E: Specific fault in that system
