P0E2F: High Voltage Fuse B

P0E2F says the battery management has found a second high-voltage fuse open, or believes it has. Several makers use it. Mercedes calls it electrical fuse B, the battery-internal fuse protecting auxiliary HV consumers in its plug-in hybrids: a shorted belt starter-alternator or another short in that line blows it, the engine no longer starts and only electric driving remains; once the short is fixed, the 2024 bulletin for series 206, 223, 254 and 290 has the HV battery replaced. On EQB models a DC/DC wake-up fault can set it without a blown fuse. Porsche lists it as fuse 2 on the 2020-22 Taycan, which is then not ready to drive. Volvo and Polestar compare the voltages after the front and rear fuse outputs with pack voltage. Main fuse: P0A95.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving? If the car is running normally, drive in moderation to a repair shop. If it loses power or another warning appears, do not continue.

Symptoms

  • Engine does not start, electric driving only (plug-in hybrids)
  • Vehicle not ready to drive or propulsion warning
  • MIL or HV drive system warning on

Most likely causes

  • Short circuit in an HV consumer on the protected branch
  • False detection by the battery management or DC/DC wake-up fault
  • Faulty voltage measurement behind the fuse

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • It can trigger limp mode.

What each character of P0E2F means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 0: Generic code: same on every make
  • E: Subsystem depends on the code range
  • 2F: Specific fault in that system
