P0ED0: Hybrid/EV Battery F Voltage

P0ED0 is the general voltage code of hybrid/EV battery F, the sixth and last unit in this letter series. It reports an implausible voltage of the unit without separating unstable (P0ED1), low (P0ED2) and high (P0ED3) readings. Only storage systems divided into six or more separately monitored units can produce it, and no manufacturer documents P0ED0 publicly. Ford's 2019 hybrid BECM is an example of finely divided monitoring: it supervises the cells in groups of six per sense circuit and fails a circuit when any cell reads above 5 V or below 1 V for 11 seconds. CARB demands that the cells and voltage sensors of the energy storage are monitored with codes for the smallest replaceable unit. A battery warning and reduced power follow.

High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.

Symptoms

  • MIL and battery warning
  • Reduced electric power

Most likely causes

  • Aged or damaged cells in unit F
  • Open or high-resistance voltage sense lead of unit F
  • Cell monitoring electronics or software fault

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • It can trigger limp mode.
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P0ED0 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 0: Generic code: same on every make
  • E: Subsystem depends on the code range
  • D0: Specific fault in that system
