P232E closes the row of injector A offset-learning codes: cylinder 12, upper limit. The learned extra energizing time for this injector has run to the top of its range for at least one rail pressure level, meaning the injector needs much longer activation than its nominal map to give the expected small-quantity torque – it under-delivers or opens late, often from coking or wear. In GM's 2018 diesel logic for the analogous cylinder 1–8 codes, the fault stays stored until no pressure level is saturated any more, and it is Type B. CARB requires detection once the fuel feedback has no adjustment left. Only V12 diesels have a twelfth cylinder, in passenger cars just Audi's Q7 V12 TDI; no manufacturer documents P232E. The lower limit is P232D, cylinder 11 uses P232B/P232C.
