P2734: Pressure Control Solenoid F Electrical

P2734 is the catch-all electrical code for solenoid F: the driver stage notices coil current or voltage at odds with the command, without saying whether the line is broken, touching ground or touching battery voltage. Public documentation of P2734 by any maker is lacking. Those that publish data on valve F use the specific circuit codes instead: GM's 2025 table 25OBDG03A runs P2736, P2738 and P2739 on the same valve, which there feeds a clutch of the nine- or ten-speed, the line pressure circuit of the eight-speed or the binary pump of the CVT. Ford's 2024 summary maps the odd clutch cooling valve of its TR9070 dual-clutch unit to the same three codes. CARB counts such solenoids as comprehensive components whose circuits must be checked for faults.

Medium severity. Can I keep driving?Drive as little as possible and gently. If the transmission slips or stays in one gear, go slowly to a repair shop or call for a tow truck.

Symptoms

  • MIL on with limp-home mode
  • Harsh, late or missing shifts

Most likely causes

  • Corroded, loose or damaged connector at the valve body
  • Chafed or broken wire in the solenoid F circuit
  • Faulty solenoid F coil
  • Faulty output stage in the TCM

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • Repair difficulty: medium
  • It can trigger limp mode.
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P2734 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 2: Generic code: same on every make
  • 7: Transmission
  • 34: Specific fault in that system
