P2765 is the circuit code of a second input speed sensor, B, and what B measures varies. On Ford's DPS6 dual-clutch box (2012) it is the input shaft 2 sensor for reverse and the even gears, faulted when the TCM hardware detects a circuit failure. Audi bulletin 2032211/3 for the 0B5 S tronic (S4/S5 2010–14, RS5/S6/S7 2013–14) lists P2765 among codes caused by a faulty sensor module G676 carrying the input speed sensors; it is replaced with its harness, which means removing the gearbox. Nissan's NTB14-019 (2014 Rogue, CVT8) ties P2765 to moisture on the pins of the secondary speed sensor. Mitsubishi's 2019 CVT uses it for the turbine sensor: under 150 rpm for 5 s with the primary pulley above 500 rpm.
Medium severity. Can I keep driving?Drive gently to a repair shop. If it slips, you hear clunks, or it loses its gears, do not keep driving.
Symptoms
- Check engine light and gearbox malfunction message
- Limp-home mode, sometimes without reverse or even gears
- Slow take-off and no torque converter lock-up
Most likely causes
- Moisture or corrosion at the sensor B connector pins
- Defective sensor B or integrated sensor module inside the gearbox
- Open or shorted wiring between sensor and TCM
- TCM input stage faulty
What to check, in order
Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.
Good to know
- Repair difficulty: hard
- It can trigger limp mode.
- It affects emissions.
What each character of P2765 means
- P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
- 2: Generic code: same on every make
- 7: Transmission
- 65: Specific fault in that system
