P0E93: Drive Motor B Inverter Voltage Sensor B Circuit Low

With P0E93 the controller sees the B voltage channel in the motor B inverter stuck near the bottom of its signal range, as happens with a short to ground, an open signal path or a failed measuring circuit. No manufacturer documents P0E93 publicly. Mitsubishi's rear motor sensor A on the 2023 Outlander PHEV gives a comparable limit: its low code P0DA5 sets once the signal sits at or below 0.55 V for 0.3 s with the rear motor unit powered at 8 V or more, and the checks start with the battery management and the high-voltage cables to the rear motor before the motor unit itself. Drive motor A has the equivalent sensor B fault as P0E8E. If several channels read low together, missing high voltage is more likely than a sensor fault. Motor B is normally disabled until the reading is valid.

High severity. Can I keep driving? If the car still runs, drive as little as possible and go to a specialized repair shop. Do not touch the orange cables: they carry high voltage.

Symptoms

  • MIL and EV system warning
  • Rear or second motor without power, front-drive only

Most likely causes

  • Measuring circuit for channel B in the motor B inverter failed
  • Signal line shorted to ground or open
  • High-voltage cable or connection to motor B open, no voltage at the inverter

What to check, in order

Start with the simplest. You can tick off each step.

Good to know

  • It can trigger limp mode.
  • It affects emissions.

What each character of P0E93 means

  • P: Powertrain: engine and transmission
  • 0: Generic code: same on every make
  • E: Subsystem depends on the code range
  • 93: Specific fault in that system
